A one-day comprehensive workshop will be taking place in Manchester, covering the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) 12 step compliance recommendations, fines, directors’ responsibilities, staff training, awareness and competence testing.
The GDPR comes into force in May 2018 and marks the biggest change in data protection law for 20 years. It will apply to all companies holding data of any EU citizens and introduces new obligations and rights for individuals. Fines will be up to €20 million or 4% of annual turnover, whichever is greater.
Topics such as awareness, information audits, data breaches and international considerations will be discussed. The designation of Data Protection Officers and the data subject rights, such as the right to be forgotten and access requests, will also be included.
The course will allow attendees to have a better understanding of the GDPR and apply the necessary rules and regulations to ensure organisations comply. A qualified GDPR specialist will be leading the course, which is suitable for people responsible for data protection at organisations that hold data or are part of a supply chain that holds data. Other individuals who may be interested in attending include Compliance Officers, Directors, IT Administrators, Company Secretaries, HR personnel or Legal specialists.
