EVENT: Biometrics Institute Congress

1st November 2017 - 2nd November 2017

The Biometrics Institute Congress: A two day Congress accompanied by an exhibition at Australia House in Central London on the 1-2 November 2017.

Satellite events: Half-day events focusing on specific topics and issues held on either side of the Congress on the 31 October and 3 November.

The Biometrics Institute Reception: An annual must-attend networking event on the 1 November 2017 from 6.00pm.

Biometrics Institute events are known for their thought-provoking discussions and high-quality speakers in an independent and international forum.

The event will provide a range of case study presentations, discussion sessions and innovation talks. It offers a fantastic opportunity to share best-practice and knowledge.

The Biometrics Institute represents over 200 membership organisations from around the world and provides a platform for regular discussion around the responsible use of biometrics.

This year’s topics:

This year we will focus on digital transformation and the role of biometrics in government as well as consumer applications. We are planning to cover the following topics:

  • Digital identity schemes – what new technologies and regulations are emerging and shaping the digital transformation?
  • Digital services and biometrics – what are the opportunities and challenges?
  • Consumer biometrics and their application – what will have the greatest take up and why? How will the use of smartphones evolve?
  • Biometrics at the borders – how to manage borders and the movement of people now and in the future? How can a chain of trust be established for identity?
  • Biometrics for social impact – how can biometrics help impact positively on people’s lives?
  • Liveness detection and vulnerability assessments – what are the risks and what mitigation is available?
  • How is new privacy legislation in Europe impacting the industry? How can we build trust amongst the public around biometrics and privacy? Data sharing and the potential trade-off between security and privacy?
  • Research and innovation in biometrics – what is new, where do we see current gaps?
  • Technology developments – what new developments are we seeing?

A new venue with a range of networking opportunities

This year’s Congress will be held at beautiful Australia House in central London and welcome over 200 delegates to the Grand Theatre of the building. It will provide a unique networking opportunity for delegates as well as sponsors and exhibitors.

An exhibition will be held in the Great Hall which allows around 20 suppliers to present their products and services to the international network of the Biometrics Institute.
