In this whitepaper, co-authored by the GDPR Institut and Pushfor, we look at the most traditional way that businesses communicate and distribute content, often highly sensitive and confidential, and the business risk that this creates. Typically, content is ‘sent’ using email. Email was never developed with a ‘Privacy by Design’ approach and is often at the root of data breach incidents and subsequent business risk. This paper suggests that as a result, the action of ‘sending’ content, via email or across any other distribution channel, should be regarded as GDPR Public Enemy Number One.
